Entry from: Barcelona, Spain Entry Title: "Bow to the gods of architecture and art!!" Entry: "Another unbelievable day in Barcelona. I'd arranged to meet a new friend, Kristy, who is also staying at Eddy's, to go to the Picasso Museum this morning. We left around 0930 (could have been 10ish even) and walked down to the Gotic part of town - the very old part with tiny laneways and cobbled streets full of shops and galleries and museums. It's a rabbit warren and hard to navigate, even with a map, as the streets are barely marked. We persevered and found the museum. As usual there was a queue. It moved reasonably quickly and we were in the building before we knew it. The Picasso Museum has an unbelievable collection of the artists early work, including paintings and sketches from his art student days. They also have temporary exhibitions and are currently showing a wonderful exposition highlighting the influence of Degas on Picassos work. They have works by the two artists displayed side by side to show how Picasso both revered and competed with an artist he admired greatly. The permanent exhibition takes you through Picasso's life and the captions on the walls explain where he was both geographically and in relation to his artistic development.
